Marie-Louise von Motesiczky has been called ‘The Undiscovered Expressionist’. A pupil of Max Beckmann in the 1920s, she emigrated to England from Vienna in 1939, where she spent the rest of her life and long career. Amongst her finest portraits are those of her mother Henriette (1882-1978).
